Best inline thermostat mod
 

well since my new factory 180 degrees thermostat took a **** then my water pump did, I figure I might as well do the inline mod. Who has the best instructions and best set up so far?

yea I've been searching for pics and haven't seen alot

i can tell you which hose is best as lower radiator to engine, its Gates 22073, it fits like a glove,,,
as for upper parts use a thermostat housing as close to outlet pipe as you can (it needs to be 34 mm inlet, (32 mm too skinny), and put a bleed valve in middle of upper rad shroud, also use a connector of 34 mm, and your choice of thermostat that fits housing,,
i actually used 2 thermostat housing's from junkyard and sandwiched them together and put thermostat in between, (they were from 1977 t0 1986 4 cylinder volvo's 240 or 244 they are same and cost me $6 each,) i spend a lot more for hose and connector for bleed screw,,
you are handy enough, once you start everything will fall into place automatically, good luck,,

I ended up using a gates 25476 for the lower hose. Its a universal hose and quite a bit cheaper. I do recommend two clamps on each end of the hose, but its been working perfectly for me.

Just get another genuine 180. My coolant Temps are rock solid 180's and never exceed 194 sitting still.

I just ordered PEM100990 from Atlantic British via Amazon. I also got the brass upgrade bleeder screw.

I am thinking that my temps are too high and that the old thermostatic is bad. Also...for the life of me I can't get the air out of the heater core. I guessing this might be due to the thermostat being frozen.

Last night Tricky Dick sat outside on my rally hill (steep muddy incline) and this morning, still no decline in fluid at the bleeder.

tricky dick strikes again. I'm gonna going the factory set up still with the 180 thermostat and purple ice water wetter. I have to drain everything since I think a piece of that bearing made the thermostat fubar but that's life

The OEM setup with the LR 180F is working great for me. In that other thread that sexy aluminum porn of a thermostat is absolutely beautiful, but function wise it's no better than an OEM setup as it's in the same location.

I'm going to get a spare intake and see about having it tweaked for a Chevy Thermostat, but besides that OEM setup for me.
