Default Best Way To Drop Oil Pan To Fix Leak

Mine is leaking and I want to replace the gasket or at least clean it all up and "Right Stuff" both sides.

Any suggestions?

Drop the pan and replace the gasket and RTV where the rave says to. Hardest part will be to get the cross member off though some say you can slide it out without removing it.

The crossmember should not be too hard to remove unless the bolts are rust-welded like mine and you decide you don't have time to play with that right now. I had the truck on ramps and used 2 x 4's to further lift the body. You lift both sides until the front shaft is hanging loose (tires barely touching the ramps then the pan can dropped and turned upside-down and slipped out.

Be very careful so you don't get the truck on the stomach !!!

A bit of a dirty job but worth cleaning the sedimented dirt in there.
