That first pic in the snow is cool. Good thread. Showing options for 18ers

Those are mean looking tires! But how do they hold up in winter weather on snow and ice? And which do you guys think would be my best bet between the two, if I were looking for "Premium" 18" tires capable of maximum performance in snow and on ice? The nitto terragrapplers or the Yoko ATS geolander tires as seen above?

I heard the geolanders won't fit on some 18' Rover rims because of the design of the rim. I have the Proline wheels (probably the least common 18') but that's what I was told. Could have been bad info though.

I'll be getting the Nittos in a couple months when my tires now need replacing. I've been told they do great in the snow and on ice.

Hard to say which ones. I went with those because they were a good price, had that perfect size I wanted and looked good. They are nice on the highway, good off road, and great in the snow. I got this truck for hitting the slopes, so snow performance was important. Unfortunately, didn't get much of a chance this winter to test them. That pic was in the blizzard before Halloween last year. 2 feet of snow, and those tires blasted the truck through everything. Right after that, I towed an f150 out of a ditch, on a hill, with 6" of snow on the road.
They are rated for snow, not rated for the "extreme" snow like a full on snow tire. But, I needed a year round tire with an emphasis on snow, and these fit the bill. 15k on them and so far so good.

And here...pulled me up the hill as you can see where the front bumper was working as a plow and the belly of the truck was on the snow. Name: utf-8BSU1HMDE2NDAtMjAxMTAxMjctMDAwNS5qcGc.jpg

Nope, 2000 so no CDL. I thought about putting a kit in but never did, and for sure not the conditions to slide under the truck and manually do it.

Good thread - I've been thinking about what to do to get some better tires on my 18's for driving in the desert.

Are you guys buying the Nitto's online, or locally?

They look good. Of course, the 265/60 would leave a little extra rubber for airing down...

Discount Tire Direct is good. Free Shipping and the prices where cheaper after looking around. You could always print off the DTD page with the tires you want and get a local tire supplier to price match as well.
