Well, no good deed goes unpunished. I drove into work this morning, 3 miles on mainly residential streets. I pulled into our builiding, stop for the parking ticket and the temp immediatley started climbing, never got to red but defintely jumped up the the top of the white. What is this monster? It never did this even when it was dripping coolant from the head gaskets. Phil

That stuff can goop up your radiator or maybe you have an air pocket somewhere. If your needle is anywhere over the normal midpoint then you are really overheated.

flow is good and the system was sucked with the pressure system so hopefully no air pockets. Phil

thats correct "cracked head" it took about 2 months for the thing to get big enough to not be able to drive.. :eek:

Ive used this stuff called k-seal before and it has acutually worked its a mixture of glass fibers and copper and it actually welds the leak shut.only stuff ive ever used that dosnt clog system and it fixes the leak permently if you dont have the money to fix the headgaskets i would highly suggest giving that stuff a try

I will look into that. If I knew that it was the head gasket, I would bit the bullet and get it fixed. I don't know what the problem is. If it is a slipped sleeve or cracked sleeve, new/used engine time, big deal. Cracked head, not a big deal. It is just the unknown that has me stumped. Phil

Ttake your shroud off and warm it up. Then use a laser thermometer and check the temps all over the radiator. Good flow doesn't mean it is cooling right, and additives can clog it..

Thats good advice... it seems at idel you are having the problems so, rad, fan clutch...flow...is a good start. You can also call the guys at steel seal and give that a last ditch effort. It its a cracked or slipped sleave you have nothing to loose..
