Broken key ignition help.

So I recently bought a 2000 disco 2. It came with one key that had the buttons on it to open the doors but those didn’t work so I had to manually lock and unlock each door. The car has a bunch of random stuff that doesn’t work on it. But i some how broke my only key in half. So the car is sitting at my work. It’s unlocked and everything the other half of key isn’t stuck in the ignition like I thought. But I called dealership and there is no way I’m spending $300 on a new key plus the cost of towing it to the dealer ship that’s 2 hours away.. I have searched online but can’t find much. At this point I really don’t car how I get it started. I read that you can got wire them pretty easy? I just need to know my cheapest option. Thanks

You could always try a used or aftermarket ignition. Maybe try straightening the broken key in a vice and superglue or epoxy the key back together,I imagine that if you could get the key in the ignition you'd be able to get it home or get a copy cut.

Do you have both pieces of the broken key? If so, a decent locksmith can cut you a new one for cheap. I just went through the same deal!

Where is the other part of the key

I’m not sure. I had shut my car door on the key and bent it so it was kind of weak and I should have went and got a new key but I didn’t so I kept using it. I got to work one day (construction) brought my keys in with
me and at the end of the day I got in my car andhalf my key was gone
