bumpers

Well darn it. I got bumped in a parking lot a while back and it cracked the rear bumper cover. So then we're on a trail with some deep standing water. I listen to the wife back up rather than go any further and presto like magic, I crack the $&!% out of the front. (don't....just let me blame it on her ;) )

So it would seem I'm in the market for both a front and rear. I think both of these are aftermarket, OEM style. I never had an issue with my old rover so I'm thinking I want to stay away from this ebay special crap that's on it. There's no way the front should have broken that easy with what did. I didn't see the rear happen so I have no idea how hard it got hit. Are the aftermarket ones really that easy to break?

This thing is my daily driver that so some limited off roading with. What's my best bang for the buck bumpers? Not looking to spend a fortune.

Any input. Brands, models, etc, etc appreciated. Or if you have something you're selling I might be interested too. Wasn't planning on upgrading but here we are. Thanks much

You can get front and rear steel bumpers from Atlantic British for $1000 an never have to worry about it. I have their $400 rear bumper and some one clipped me going through and intersection. Opened their car up like a tin can, my bumper had a slight smudge.

They all pretty much bolt right up. I had my stock one off and the rear one on in 20mins.

atlantic british metal bumper

I just put the metal bumper from atlantic british on my rear about 2 weeks ago. It was unbelievably easy. Just soak the bolts for several days before you go to do it. I think the bumper looks great and it costs barely more than used bumpers. Its on sale right now for 399. You will have just a little bit of shipping added as well but not bad.

Atlantic British also has a scratch and dent bumper for sale minor scuffs I believe for 365
i was going to get it but shipping to Canada and exchange rate it would be in the 900 dollar

I've never seen an aftermarket plastic bumper cover for a D2. Did you see one on Ebay? I just looked and couldn't find one other than steel aftermarket ones. Just curious... What makes you believe yours are aftermarket? I've seen plenty OEM covers cracked! You can thank Land Rover for the ABS plastic bumper covers... what were they thinking?

My issue with the steel bumpers is that I do not want a lift or stiffer springs.

Are you saying adding a steel bumper will add too much weight? Never thought about that. Is that an issue?

I'll see if I can find the covers I assumed were after market junk and post a link.

Are the plastic bumpers in the above links aftermarket or genuine OEM Land Rover?
