Default Coolant Pressure Test?

OK, I'm back from my honeymoon and all seems well with the rover.I was advised to get a coolant pressure test done on it because of the recent problems i'm experiencing with hose failure. I drove the truck to work today, ran fine. and haven't had any coolant loss since the heater hose failure a week ago. The truck was driven approx 15 miles to work at 8 this morning, sat until 1:30, as soon as i finished work, i checked the hoses and they still had a little pressure on them, and when i took the cap off of the expansion tank it released a little pressure.

Knowing this, does anybody still think it's NECESSARY to have a pressure test done or is the fact that it held pressure for almost 6 hours enough to tell that there's not a blown gasket?

If you perform a pressure test and find no leaks, you mayhave a clogged radiator. Have you taken a look at your thermostat? I know they have a tendancy to stick once they get rusty. They get rusty from using just water instead of coolant for a long period of time.

Oh and you'd know if you had a blown head gasket. Billowing white smoke and/or milky oil.

It is not uncommon for your hoses to blow with your year and mileage. Me personally, I would make sure they are all new (change the one's that haven't blown yet) and just keep an eye on it. Use the money for the pressure test to replace the hoses left.

I wouldn't venture too far from home, but if it is holding water and not heating up, I would just say bad luck with hoses wearing out....

I may have been misleading, the truck was never running hot, to indicate a clogged radiator or sticking thermostat. Thetemp needle never moves off of normal or below. It just keeps blowing hoses, only after i've stopped for a period of time, never while moving. I've had a few friends that are ase certified tell me that it's definately not a head gasket, and since i'm not loosing any more fluid loss tojust replace the two top radiator hoses left that i've yet to replace.

Tighten your hose clamps?
