Canister Vent Selenoid- Help

Ok guys about a month ago I got the codes:

P1884
P0441
P0445

As a result I replaced the purge valve and I went a good few weeks with no lights or issues. However the other day I got these codes:

P1668
P0441

From what I've searched there isn't much info on P1668. However I do think at this point I need to replace the canister vent selenoid to get rid of P0441.

I've seen the diagrams on RAVE but I'm still left confused as where to find the canister vent selenoid.

All help is appreciated. If anyone has done the job before please lend your advice. I hardly got any responses in my other thread.

Thanks

P1668 Engine anti-theft signal circuit high Serial link open circuit

This would indicate an open wire conection from BCU to ECM. That would be pin 10 of the BCU connector and pin 33 of the ECM.

On the ECU:

33 Immobiliser serial W link Input, signal Serial 0-12V

Maybe you have discovered how to defeat immoilization - nope - but maybe when you fix it more bad things will happen - would test with windows rolled down!!

For vent solenoid, see attached.

For what it is worth, I go to the circuit diagrams, and use the text search tool to find something on the drawing, like "vent". Then look for the connector number, go to electrical library, look it up by number, and usually there is the connector wiring colors, pin outs, and a picture of where it is. In a Rover that has never seen any gravel in its travels.... too damn clean.

So Savannah what are you suggesting I do for p1668 is that some sort of fluke code?

Thank you for the photo. I take it replacement selenoids are expensive?

Savannah Buzz Nov 28, 2011 09:58 PM

Don't know price on new solenoids, for open wire sometimes unplug and reseat connectors is all that it takes, examine connector to be sure a pin is not backed out, etc. Do this with doors unlocked, open, windows down, battery un-hooked.

And the photo is not mine. Just from the electrical library in the RAVE. My Rover has never been that clean except on the voyage from the UK....

Well I don't really have a better way to say this but I don't believe I have a CVS unit. I looked at the diagram you posted and matched each part t for t with my truck and the CVS unit is no where to be found. And there are no disconnected wires.

Do you know if the part is different for a 2003 or if they were mounted somewhere else?

here's two sets of info. Now perhaps you don't have that version of purge canister stuff, but if not, how then the dedicated code for it?

DiscoRover007 Dec 5, 2011 07:48 PM

I really don't know what's going on. I've been digging for that black cigarette box like part and it's just not there. It's supposed to be behind the cruise control bracket and I see nothing. I'm going to see if it's under the truck somewhere but I need to get this straightened out. I called the dealership for advice but of course those clowns didn't call me back.

Perhaps you are chasing a ghost in the ECU. For what ever reason it has popped out that code, but you don't seem to have those parts. Attached are two pages from RAVE - see part #4 on first page, for CVS; see part 3 on second page. Which evap system looks like your truck?

DiscoRover007 Dec 6, 2011 11:17 AM

I seem to have the system on page 17-2-4. I located the leak detection pump in front of the evap canister.

So Savannah, are you suggesting an air filter canister replacement? Or perhaps leak detection pump or EVAP canister?
