Cant get out of Park!!!

I put on the brake but I don't hear the little click of the switch disengaging so I can shift out of park. Then obviously I can't go anywhere. If it were in my garage, that would be fine. But it isn't. What is the switch called(so i can find it in the RAVE manual), and is it a common problem? I need to fix this so I can get the rig home.

Thanks
Justin

for now remove the shift handle by pulling straight up, remove the shifter bezel by squeezing in on both side about 2 inch from the ends, it will lift up and off, from there you can see the soleniod pin which is keeping you from shifting. you can push the pin back into the solenoid to allow you to shift. its possible its a brake light switch or fuse, but this should get you home

Awesome. Thanks. Hopefully the folks at the gas station will be fine with me leaving it there until 6:00

Yep, do what drowssap said. I'll see of I can snatch you a picture of the pin in a few minutes. I just had to replace a faulty brake light switch myself. Easy job, takes about 5 minutes and $15. I can grab a couple pictures of that too.

Ok, here's the button you'll need to press. Very simple, it's just a little round black pin.

Here's the brake light switch. You'll have to remove the plastic cover under the drivers side of the dash. See that white plug? That's plugged into it. Just twist about a quarter turn counter clockwise and pull it out. Yours will not have the blue crimp or the green wire, those are for my trailer brakes.

So just to be clear I just pull straight up on the shift lever and it will come out?

yes, just be careful you don't hit yourself in the face, it hard to take off the first time
