Cen-Tech OBDII code reader problems

The ABS light and Service Engine lights have been on in my 98 Disco, so I picked up a fairly cheap OBDII code reader from harbor freight today in the hopes of finding out what might be causing it. Followed the included instructions and it comes back with no error codes. So, I hit "erase codes" to reset the lights, and they still come on when I start the engine. Any ideas? It's running/driving fine, but those lights are really buggin me.

Regards,
Joe Martin

The abs can be read & cleared by you through ecu under driver's seat (has diagnostic led)

The service engine (red) light can be reset by you behind pass side kick panel (there's a reset hole in relay) mileage triggered

neither will trigger normal or obd2 codes

luck,greg

I can't seem to find the diagnostic led under the drivers seat. Any pictures of what I should be looking for?

the diagnostic connector is under the drivers side DASH. just under the steeringwheel and slightly to the right of center. good luck

If you snoop around, you'll find the procedure to read & reset your ABS codes.

I'm sorry, the abs ECU is behind the glovebox (not under driver's seat), but the led to read & reset ABS codes is under the pass seat

Try this (LRFAQ.org)

I just read this site today.

Thanks guys. The Service Engine light actually just went off on it's own. I'll see if I can read the ABS codes this weekend.

I'm looking behind the passenger side kick panel for said relay switch for red service engine light. Any clues to where said relay us down here, I'm clueless. Thx in advance.
