Check Engine light still on
 

I had an engine swap around a year and 1/2 ago on my 04 disco due to coolant leak from sleeve loosing weld on piston. After replacement, I noticed the check engine light was still on and registering 02 sensors (in which i replaced all 4 using universal and I spliced and attatch original connector to new sensor on all 4) and some sort of EVAP code. I also hear somekind of exhaust leak when i crank car up especially when choke is on, but not sure if it is just me hearing things or its really a leak. After replacement of 02 sensors I cleared codes and check engine came back on saying passenger side 02 and evap once again. I took it to land rover of charlotte and they confirmed that those were the codes coming up. My car just recently cut of when my tank was near empty and wouldnt restart, but would turn over. Took it back to lr of charlotte and they replaced crank sensor and battery total of $745, also told me they couldnt get check engine light to return. I picked it up and check engine light came right back on within a mile. I refused to deal with the dealership again. Is there anyone that has an idea of how I can get this damn check engine light off. Ps I know its a disco and that might be complicated... lol

First off it is fuel injected so there is no choke.
Second the universal O2's are part of your problem, they are junk and will throw codes more times than not.

Are you using premium gas? Not using it can cause problems too.

Okay thanks, I knew the universal o2 werent recommended but gave it a shot... also the engine idles at a little above 1000 rpm when cranked and settles down to around 600- 700 after 15-20 seconds when its not warm, so thats why I thought it was a choke. Any suggestions about easy way to replace 02 sensors, had difficult time last time, and also about the evap? and exhaust leak?

The idle doing that is normal.
The exhaust leak...could be loose exhaust manifold bolts, could be a bad exhaust manifold gasket, could be a cracked exhaust manifold, could be anything.
As for the EVAP leak, could be a bad gas cap or a bad purge valve.
As for replacing the O2's, do it with a warm engine, they will come loose easier that way.

I used a universal O2 on my wifes car and it threw codes left and right.

thank you guys.... I guess I will try to change them again, hopefully it was the universal 02s that were setting of codes. should I get a 02 sensor tool? or just use socket wrench

You are either going to need an O2 sensor socket, or an open-end wrench. A standard socket will not be deep enough, not to mention the wires on the end of the sensor will prevent a normal socket from fitting on the sensor.
