Code P1415, a follow-up to SES light
All,
Thank you all for the numerous replies yesterday. I went to Advance Auto Parts after workand had them read the code(s) that are causingthe SES light onmy 02 Disco2. The code reader came up with: P1415 -> Auxiliary Emission Controls Any thoughts on what I should look at would be greatly appreciated. Regards, JeffQ |

How is your truck running, any noticiable changes? I have seen this code come up before, but so far have not found the information I need to help you. I'll stay in touch and let you know what I find. Mike |

I cannot tell any difference in the way the Disco2 is running. It runs justlike it did before the light came, which is to say, just fine. I'm due for an oil change and was thinking about plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter since I am @ 29k miles. The only thing thatmay be worth mentioning is that the Disco2 seems to "surge" a bit under hard acceleration.......for example, in first gear going up a steep hill with my foot to the floor the acceleration seems to come in hard, reduces a bit as I pass through 3k rpm, and then picks up steam again as I pass through 4k rpm. The surge is also somewhat noticeable in other gears as well. Regards, JeffQ |

Through a bit more digging I think that I just found the answer and solved the problem that was causing the SES light. I found an explanation relating to P1415 and Land Rovers: "SAI runs when cold. Pump runs, blows air into the rail. Power is applied to the vacuum switching valve, which applies vaccum to the gulp valves so they open. You either have no fresh air or no vacuum to open the valves. The nipple at the reservoir behind the right wheelhouse gets oil-soaked and falls off. The vacuum valves fail as well." So......I went outside just now and lookedthe pump and vaccum connections over. Turns out that the quick connector on my fresh air pump was partially disconnected. I pushed on the connector and it made a very satisfying "click" sound as it properly reconnected itself to the pump. Started up the engine and voila'........the SES light is gone!!!!! I have the same code and SES light is on. Can you please give me a better description of where the nipple is? Was it on the the left or right side of the truck when standing in front of the truck? Aaron |

P1415 = SAI fault, it'll be either a vacuum line, cracked main line, loose hose clamp, cracked vacuum nipple, or the small black valve located over by the purge control valve. Yep you've woken up a very old thread lol
