coil pack arcing to firewall

Anybody know if there is a ground wire to coil pack? I have arcing from coil pack to firewall and I can't find a problem on any of the wires.

The coil pack is only about 6 months old.

I've been chasing a miss in my girlfriend's Disco for weeks (only a couple hours a week to work on it, so really more like 3 days) and finally figured out there was a pin hole in one of the boots and cylinder 6 was jumping to the firewall.

I'd say try some new plug wires and see if that helps. I replaced the wire and she's running like a top. Throw in new coils at the same time if yours are old.

Edit: scratch the new coils I reckon

Sounds like a bad boot on a spark plug wire at the coil pack.

Thanks, will check that some more. Really irritates me if that is the case as the coil was redone in spring and wires are only just over a year and I got the better 8's for the wire.

Sadly the 8mm is on the wire itself & not on the boot. I personally stick with 7mm as you aren’t going to see any performance increase & some 8mm’s won’t fit into the OEM wire mounts.

I have 8mm Kingsborne’s, did make some holders, the stock pinch. Can’t say I have noticed a difference I have changed so many things.

I give Best’s advice a lot of credit, never steered me wrong.

Well, I believe it was the number five cylinder wire boot that was bad. Used one of my wires from when I changed them out. Was trying to do it without taking manifold off. Since the number 5 is on top, only had to remove one other boot to get it. Problem was getting them in place with that space. I had already removed secondary air pipe which I am going to change out for vacuum hose. I still couldn't get my hands positioned well enough to get them back on. So in comes my 12 year old to save the day. He laid across the engine and got them on enough that I could push them on. I don't see any arcing now. At some point will change that wire out for a new one but for now, I'm calling it good.

Thanks guys,
