Default Coil replacement.

Going to do the coils and wires. I’m going to pick up the coil packs from AB along with their 7mm Magnecor wires. I am thinking about the 8mm Magnecor though but It says that you have to fit them. Not sure if I want to mess with that. Found the plenum gasket at AB as well.
What else am I going to need?

thanks!

Patience. It is not a quick job. I know there are those on here who say they can do it in an hour, and maybe they can, but Its difficult at best to get your hands back there, and if you have ham hands like me (big gloves, big shoes, ha ha). If you havent bought wires yet, the Kingsborne wires are awesome and fit well. They have a website or call and ask for Kris (she usually answers the phone). if you are keeping it long term, you may want to consider relocating the coil packs.

Thanks guys! I’m still on the fence about the coil pack relocation in the 03... The 03 is my wife’s ride, so I’m not even sure how long we may keep it. LOL! However, the relocation is something I’m definitely going to have done to my 04 when I replace the engine. I do plan on keeping the 04 for a pretty long time. This may come in very handy.

It’s a nice kit/idea, but honestly once you’ve done a few it’s not bad & there are plenty of shortcuts vs what the RAVE Manual shows.

bcurtman, it might be a good idea to get the ignition wires off the AC compressor with either some wire loom insulation,
or a couple of very inexpensive wire separators.

They are now off. Gerry's kit has the correct wire holders, but I had to buy a longer 8mm bolt to install the one for the compressor.

Gerry's kit is great as I've said before. I actually used a pair of Kingsborne spark plug covers (natural color) to protect the wires going across the alternator. WSP-310N Spark Plug Boot Insulator 7.5" long

I was going to take it in to the shop to have the coils and wires changed but I was offered some help and guidance from another local Disco2 enthusiast...so I’m going to try it myself tomorrow. Hopefully, this will fix my misfire issue.
