A Couple Of Questions
 

I am a new owner, 2000 Disco and I have a couple of general questions what do you guys think of getting the repairs and services done at local shop rather than the dealer, also is anyone have problems with the back wiper scratching the window. Thanks for the input

If you can find a shop that just works on Rovers that is a good sign.
Dealers are not all bad its the cost .
The wiper arm is bent not the blade just bend it back so the
wiper sets at 90 degrees to the window.

Do dealers get mad if you bring the part and just pay for labor, this will be the end of my stupid questions

No stupid questions.
I would call the dealer and ask if they could use your parts.
I think if the parts are OEM they would, all they can do is say no.

a local shop is okay, if they specialize in rovers. otherwise not a good plan. General service is a good thing to do yourself, if you are able, and have the tools. Dealers have got to pay their overhead, and at a land rover dealership that is costly. Check with dealer about the parts you want to use. OEM will probably be ok, but they probably will not back up the parts quality. Being new with the landrover I will give the best advice I have. Keep the maintanence up, keep the records, fix things as they break. Do as much hands on as you can. The better you know your vehicle, the better off you are. I have a well loved 96 disco with 130k on it. never left on the roadside. I have spent about 5,000 in maintainence over 10 years. That includes all parts, tires, batteries, belts, hoses. I do the work myself. I save alot of money that way and I know what I have. If you don't have on try a get hold of a work shop manual. It will save what it costs the first time you use it. It is available in both book, and CD formats. Have fun, gotta love a rover. duboff

Don't plan on bring in your own parts, most dealers and many small shops won't install them. It is for your benefit you let the dealer or shop supply the parts, that way if something fails, they will warranty it and replace the part.
I worked for dealers for nearly 30 year and know alot of the ins and outs.
If you want a shop or dealer to install some aftermarket parts, tell them what you want and let them order the parts.
