crankshaft position sensor
Could someone send me a pic or detialed explanation of where the crankshaft position sensor is located on an O2 Discovery II? I cant find this thing. Also, i know there is a thread on here of directions on switching it out but i cant find it. Any help is appreciated. I am also guessing the part i need is Bosch.

It is in the Rave CD or you might want to try and do a search on the LRO, in the Disco section, there is a video on how to replace it.
Have you already bought yours, so you know what it looks like, it is located on the drivers side of the block, back side close to the bell housing. Why are you replacing yours? |
I'm having start up problems and after reading threads on here of others with the same issue it seems to be the CPS.

Just to make sure you need a crank sensor, explain your start up problem plus year, model and mileage.

Well it started having trouble when the engine was hot and now its almot every time i start it. It will start to turn over and after a few cranks it will finally start up.

I'm one of the people pushing the crank pos sensor, you need to read the rave.
I can't speak for the DII, but for the DI, (possibly the same), it will light the check engine. Also the symptoms are the truck will not restart when hot. (it's not just a matter of more cranking) If you leave it sit for say 15-20 mins, it may start just fine, like nothing's wrong. Both of mine started great when not hot. (maybe your's has been acting up longer tho') luck, greg |
Mine started out just like you said. Sometimes it would start just fine if it sat long but now its almost every time i start it. Been going on for couple weeks now.

Are you saying your engine is not turning over easily and then it will, if that is the case, you "DON'T" need a crank sensor. When they fail, the engine will turn over easily, just not start when warm.
If your engine is laboring, you have another issue and we should talk. |
Well Mike it started off with a rough start when the engine was hot which led me to believe the CPS. However, today i went out to start it (cold) and it took about 3 cranks for it to start. I let the vehicle warm up and settle to idle, turned it off, started it again and it started right up. I turned it off and it started right up again, so now i'm not sure what it could be. Any ideas?
