Dash switches

Are the switches on the discovery dash a "plug and play"? I mean that when you remove the "blank switch" , can you put in an operating switch for lets say" front fog lights", will that work? Are all wiring harnesses pretty much the same?

To answer your question, yes you can add a new Rover switch, it will not be plug and play cause you will need to wire up to a power scource at the engine fuse block and add a relay and wire assembly down to the lights you are wanting to ad, it is not hard.

And the wiring harness, with connector pins and color diagrams, is part of the RAVE (circuits manual and electrical library). Sometimes you will find extra connectors just waiting to be used. But if adding wiring, be sure to fuse it. Roasting Rovers is not fun.

Front fog lights will require the switch, the relay, the fuses if not already there, and someone to reprogram the BCU to know they are there. All of the wiring is already present as you've noticed. And of course you'll need the fog lights and whatever trim on the bumper, depending on the year of the D2.

Why would the company put in a rear fog switch and not a front fog switch?? I have a 2002 SD, how cheap is that??

Because the rear lights are standard.
