Defender 110 t-case swap

The defender 110 uses the same t-case as the D2 correct (LT230)?
If so, can the 110 t-case be installed into a D2?
Certain 110 T-case models have the 1.667 hi-range gear ratio which would help out, in hi-range, with bigger tires. I believe all LT230's have the same low-range ratio.
I'm taking a wild guess that this isn't as easy as I'm thinking it is or it would be a common mod in a D2.
Thanks for any impute.

Well. Here in America defenders are far and few in between so getting your hands on a defenders t-case would be a challenge.

You will have tons of low end torque. But will lose tons of top end speed so don't plan on going over 60mph. I want to do the same swap but I might buy this as a bush only truck.

Thanks for all your replies but does anyone know the answer to my question?
Can the 110 t-case swap out with the disco 2 t-case.

well its the same t-case just different gearing...... sooooo yes! pretty much the same running gear.

If it's 5-speed D110 you'll loose the shift interlock which may or may not be an issue for you.
You may also need to swap the front output flange.
I'd check a ratio calculator first. I think Ashcrpft has one on their site.

You probably won't have a provision for the hi-lo switch on the defender transfer case, which the SLABS needs to know what range you are in.

Also, these cases might actually not be too hard to find in the US. I've got one in my 90, and if I ever upgrade to a 200/300tdi, I'd probably want to swap it out for a 1.4 or 1.2 ratio transfer case, so that I can go faster than 55mph. I assume other people eventually dump them for the same reason.

Thanks for the last two responses. I found the 1.667 t-case gears on Todsco for the D2. Then after some reading discovered that they come stock in certain 110's. I just put 2 and 2 together and though, instead on buying and installing the higher gears into my t-case, I'd start looking around for a stock 110, t-case.

Personally I run 33's and in low range on the trails my truck runs great. I've never felt under powered even climbing steep rocks with RTT and full load but on the hwy I'd like to have a bit more love . That is why I'm looking into changing the hi range.
