Difficult starting Disco '95 diesel

During the last week, sometimes, when I stopped my Disco 2.5 Diesel 1995 (150,000 km) for a couple of hours or longer, it would not start (I mean, it started, but it took some time: the first crank will not start, even trying long time, the second or third time it started).
It is like the engine did not get diesel.
I just replaced the diesel filter one month ago, the battery is new and the electric crank motor seems good...
It is happening not always, just once in two or three days.
Anyone has an idea on what it is?

Thanks
Marco

Check the connectors, you may want to replace, cut back copper wire to battery terminals in order to get like new connections. Mine was doing something similar. It affected everything, battery charging etc. Try that!

Thanks bondjr365, but it is not a problem of starter motor or connections. The starter motor works well, it gets power immediately and I can insist 5 or 10 seconds but the engine does not start. Move the key back to off then try again and this time the engine start immediately...
By the way, now for a couple of days it never happened again...but I feel not safe, it may happen again at any moment...

Hi there,
It sounds like there is something wrong with the fuel shut off switch, or the wire going to it. It could be in the ignition switch [bad contacts].
