Default DII Cockpit

I think I finally found a suitable place for the Ultragauge. This way I can still work the buttons on the back. All the wires (GPS, UG, and Parrot Handsfree) run across, tucked under the headliner, and down the a-pilar.

Agree... Much more manageable then having it cluttering up by the diff selector... I would have put it on the bottom of the left a-pillar, but I have a 2nd Topographic GPS there... The one you see is for road navigation. I wish there was a way to rig up an oil pressure sending unit to deliver to the ECU so it could be picked up by the UG.

You got everything up there but ESPN!

Best set up I saw removed was in this recent write-up:

https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...my-dash-52862/

Best I saw without modification was over the Dr-side air vent, by the A-Pillar.

I like the integrated dash, but you have no access to the buttons.

Above my DR-side air vent is my Topo GPS...

Ironically, the other day I was driving my GF Subaru and she has a backup video screen in her rear view mirror... I thought about it on my long drive home from wheeling the other day. Maybe I could find a used mirror, and wire in a backup camera or even better, an apple TV of sorts so i could AirPlay from my iPad to the rear view mirror...

For reference, when factory temp gauge first gets to 50%, what OBDII port temp reading is displayed?

Old school did it with all gauges, and if they had a skunk logo, all the better. See SR-71 #972 Record Flight to Washington D.C.. Rover thinks we don't know how to read an oil gauge. And heat gauges are now just idiot lights with pointers. Everyone should look at an Ultra Guage or scanner.

That's why I think you should use a smartphone for your phone/music/gps-maps/truck reporting. a small tablet would be even nicer. i have the ultragauge and i don't know which bluetooth/dongle/app to get for reporting but it makes better sense and is as accurate...i would think.

phone/tablet does not work when you are 100s of miles from the closest cell tower.
i've tried the all in one phone for everything bit, got really annoying.
phones are great phones, but when you start adding a bunch of stuff, it gets cluttered... IE: can't watch truck reporting at the same time trying to navigate in the backcountry, etc.

I do have Sat radio so that mostly takes care of the tunes... Worst case, I have a Parrot MKI9200 for iTunes, Pandora, Bluetooth, etc.

I'm a fan of purpose built devices... All-in-one are nice for certain things, but i prefer purpose built where it fits.

For reference.
UG temp showed 116 when I just started it.
LR Gauge was below the blue line (IE: indicating totally cold)

LR Gauge started to move around 125

At about 155 the needle was on the bottom tick mark (in between the blue and midway).

At 156 the gauge was steady in the middle
