Disco 2001 and Defender 2001 pros and cons

Hi!

I have a disco 94 and I am looking to replace it for a Diesel one. The main problem with the disco is that the mileage I can get from it is too low. Fortunately, in my country we have the diesel versions and at this time I have two different cars that I can buy:

One is a Disco 01, with 130K miles, Td5, and the other one is a Defender 2001, also Td5, and it seems to have less than 100K miles.

The main concern I have with the Discovery Td5 is that it has a lot of miles, but I would like to know what you think. Is the maintenance of the Td5 engine too difficult?

Thanks!!

Defender all the way although 130k miles is fine if the truck was well maintained. I wish we had diesel engines here, they are pretty easy to maintain.

You have access to a diesel Defender and you have to *ask* us for an opinon? :)

Anyway, I have to wonder what value they have in other countries. Are they treated like any other spartan, utility vehicle and generally not well thought of?

Well well... thanks!

And now... about the price: The Discovery 2001 Td5 is at US$ 10,000 and the Defender is at US$ 15,000.00... the mileage of the Defender is 100K

If you have the money - Defender all the way... Provided they were both well kept/maintained/Etc...

Disco imo, the defender is just to "farm truck" like imo, and overpriced for really nothing more....

I would say base your choice on how you want to use the vehicle. Like urban said, the Defender is more truck like. In some cases that's better, in others, not so much. Just depends on your needs.
