Disco I Owners are all Non Vented Rotors

I had never thought about it much until I started looking at
different rotors and did not know if all Disco I's have the
non vented rotors front and rear like I do.

Or if this was changed in later years of the Disco I's.
I do have ABS so that not a issue and I knowthat Land Rover did
it so not to plug up the rotors and over heat them off road.

So what do you have Disco I owners let me know Thanks!!

as far as i know, all d1s have non vented rotors. you can change the calipers to d90 calipers to fit vented rotors.

X2 non vented. I want slotted and drilled when I get big (or need rotors)

Mine has always had OEM rotors, but I had a sales flier and some
of the prices are very low for everything.

llesra:
Thanks I had no idea that the D90 brakes would change over.
okdiscoguy:
I had looked at the slotted rotors but had heard they make noise
so thats why I still have OEM stuff Thanks

Thanks for the info.

My 95 and 97 DI both had solid front discs [sm=smiley21.gif]

If you're going to do a brake upgrade finding some high performance calipers should be step 1, I sourced some from AP Racing that should work a kit to upgrade minus discs would be about $2500 or so, a lot less than the Brembo upgrade for the RR Sport AKA LR3 in a pretty frock.

I've got a few other things to do first but hopefully by spring I'll have bigger brakes fitted up front and possibly an over-sized master cylinder to get some real braking. Any vehicle that cannot go into 4 wheel lock is underbraked, but the upgrade is as much for brake pedal feel (Land Rover... Pedal Feel... huh? :) ) as for stopping power.

I'm sure the upgrade will shave 30% off the overall stopping time/distance.

Be real careful when buying cheap pads and rotors, cause hat is just what you get along with all the dust, Abs issues, bad wear and loss of stopping power.

Where's 98roverguy when you need him? Probably out in the driveway with the truck on blocks in reverse......

Then again, he has probably never seen his brakes...too low mileage.

There were no changes made on any of the D1 rotors design, all were solid.
