Disco II High RPMS No Power
I have an 03 Disco II. Last night while making my weekly trek to Wyoming I got an awful "studder" while accelerating.
The SES light blinked for a few and then stayed on. The codes that it threw were P301 and P1415. I had a hard time on hills. I had a hard time maintaining 55 mph. When I accelerated and the rpms increased the speed would not. Its like it just lost all of its power. I could maintain speed on the flats, but the hills killed me. Any ideas? |
1415 indicates that the secodary air system was not able to conduct a good passive test. 301 is misfire on cylinder 1. Start by exam of spark plug 1, maybe look at plug wires and coil when running and totally dark to see if any arcs. If you can remove plug wire number 11 at idle and no change that would be a problem.

Thanks for the response. Would low ATF cause the high RPMs and no acceleration? |
I just ran out and started the Disco. I noticed a "current" running through 3 of the plug wires...That cant be a good thing right?

If you can disconnect a plug wire and there is no change in idle that would lead you to believe that a bad plug, wire, or boot connector or coil is there. You would want each plug wire to throw a spark if it was connected to a spare spark plug laying on the manifold. But code 301 narrows it down to cylinder 1. Sorry I typed 11.

Reach your hand back to the coil packs and see if one of the wires is lose. The 2 packs are behind the engine, right up against the firewall. Work patient, they are sorta hard to get to.
