Default Disco II tranmission Question

I recently added to my Landrover collection by purchasing an '02 Disco II- I already own a '96 RR. My question is the tranmission. I noticed that when it is in Overdrive and you accelerate quickly it feels "sloppy". My GMC Yukon did the same, but it was a "normal" part of its operation. My '96 RR does not- there is not sloppyness" at all- its very responsive.

Is this a normal occurance for Disco II's? Its got about 70,000 miles on it. I have no history, so I do not know when, or if, the transmission was serviced prior to this time.

Thoughts? Thank you in advance.

Default RE: Disco II tranmission Question

Maybe "clunky" is a better discription. The automatic transmission goes through the gears fine, and shifts smooth. But if you are in Overdrive and are coasting and you accelerate quickly the transmission takes a second to respond- butnot like it is downshifting. If you let it just go to third gear, this does not seem to happen, or, if you gradually put your foot back on the pedal and accelerate.

As I stated above, on my GMC it was considered normal.
