Do Land Rover's Pee?

1 Attachment(s)
Okay, first time I thought it was an animal or something of the like, but now I've seen it twice.
A bright yellow liquid dripping out of the truck. Somewhere towards the back.
No idea what it is. My coolant is more a cloudy orange. My battery is sealed...
Tates very acidic.
What is it? Where is it coming from?
Any ideas?

Could it be acid created in the tail pipe?

Got me curious so I looked it up to see what kind of acid and here is one possibility I found:
Gasoline is a hydrocarbon - the molecules contain hydrogen and carbon. When burned, they produce carbon dioxide and water. They are both gases when formed in the engine, but when the water vapour comes into contact with the cold exhaust pipe, it condenses, so you will see liquid water dripping out. After the car has run for a while, the exhaust pipe heats up to the point where the water vapour no longer condenses and the dripping stops.

By the way, it isn't plain water... some of that carbon dioxide will become dissolved in the water to form a dilute carbonic acid.

Possible. Was after a 5 hour drive. Really does look like a pure acid.

Was it directly under the tail pipe?

Haven't figured out where it's coming from yet. Central towards the rear, but I think in front of the rear axle.

This is quite interesting. More like a mystery to solve.
Did you have passengers drinking mountain due?
Have not seen that color yet. Mine is an old Disco and
have seen all the colors it spits but not this color, yet!

I'm still stuck on the fact that you tasted it.

Brake fluid maybe?

Never a Mountain Dew. But it does look just like it. But I'd hope dew isn't that acidic — that can not be good for people!

Tasting it seemed perfectly natural - more piquant and less savoury than brake fluid. ;)

I expected the group to know right off the bat, I'll have to have a closer look. Doesn't seem to be happening when it's just sitting cold.

Do you have any fluids in the back of your truck in the cargo pockets...I lost an emtire bottle on antifreeze that way.

Does it glow under a black light? Do you have rear A/C?
