Default Door handle key cyllinder

I usually don't use keyed entry into the truck since I have a transponder, but I went to go get a few spares made in case I ever lose it or the battery dies. So I got my spares made, and come to find out they key cylinder can't control the lock. The cylinder turns freely in the handle with no resistance. I'm guessing a the linkage between the cylinder and the lock actuator assembly has become disconnected. Anyone else ever encounter this problem? If theres a problem with the actual key cylinder and not a linkage I'm assuming I'm gonna have to replace the entire door handle assembly. Any thoughts?

Hi it may be that the lock barrel is not locating in the lock.
