Duratrac Tire Pressure

Hey all, I recently got my 03 D2 back on the road after a lot of work. The truck is now on the heavy side. I was wondering what the best tire pressure is for the freeway loaded & unloaded. I saw an older post but it was for a D1 with a different size. Im currently running 40psi coid unloaded. Id also like to know what pressure to run off road in rutty rock crawling environments. Thanks in advance for any info....

To get the best PSI for your setup on the road I'd perform a chalk test. Then you'd get the exact PSI to run for your exact setup.

Thanks Best4x4, I will try that this weekend when I get some free time. I sure wish I was following the LS swap before I had the engine totally rebuilt about 3 months ago. I know our D2's never got great gas mileage. I knew what I was getting into. Lol. I've got so much $$$ wrapped up in her now, that I wouldnt sell her. She runs fine after all the work. I may yank out the new motor and give it to my kid for his P38, then drop in a rebuilt LS. Thanks for the quick response....

No problem at all!

With that large of a tire, I would think 30psi. would be better than 40psi.

Duratrac psi

Hey Jim, thanks for the response. I did run them at 35 psi last week and it felt ok unloaded. They are an E load tire. As soon as it stops raining here I'll try the chalk test. I went to 40 psi because I wanted to see if there was a significant change on the fwy.. There was not. I just figured I'd try 40 psi to see if it would start to get harsh. When I bought the tires the shop put 50 psi in them. I thought it was too harsh and the steering was kinda wandering. The truck was not loaded. just wanted to run them at the right psi for gas mileage ( I know our trucks suck ) and still have a comfy ride....
