Eureka - found Factory Access through Firewall
1 Attachment(s)
While wiring my subwoofer, I accidentally stumbled upon a factory access through the firewall (yes, no drilling; no pushing wires through tight, existing wire bundles or harnesses) that I was able to run my 10 gauge 12V battery wire.
See picture below Attachment 12148 There is a 1" pre-drilled hole on the firewall on the passenger side. It is approximately 8-10" below whatever that black thing is. It might be hard to find since Land Rover puts a sticker over it and paints the sticker the same color as the frame. So it appears that the firewall is solid. In the picture, you'll see that I already have my 12V wire running through the hole, where I have a grommet, rubber hose and black split loom coming out of it I'm curious if it's only mine but reply if you can also find the same access. This find is huge since you can start running your subwoofer wires, fog light switch wires and other accessories and have a single place for egress/ingress to the vehicle. Hope this is helpful for some of you Al G 2003 D2 SE7 |
Remember, these bodies are made to be used with both left hand drive and right hand drive. There are blank holes depending upon which version you're looking at.

could not find any blank holes. there are some layers of insulation, not sure if there is something behind it, but it feels so weakened and brittle that I dare not pull it out

Used mentioned opening for my winch/off road lights wiring harness. The opening is just below the black mounting plate for the SAI pump. My picture may look a little odd, because you see the washer fluid reservoir (which l relocated there, after removing SAI pump). The plug is rubber and I just cut a hole in the plug and ran the wires through it.

i see the problem, this is on the passenger side of a LHD car? Mine is a RHD so I have the wiring loom passing through there... so i guess there mush be an opening on the other side (hopefully)...
