European Spec Headlamps, legal in US?
Are the European spec headlamps legal to use in the US? Just wondering since the driving lights are clear on those. I guess you could put yellow LED lamps to make them the right color if required.

If they were legal to use they would have been installed already would be my guess.

Legal, as long as you make it flash amber.

The turn signals on the Euro Spec are amber, it's just the driving lights, parking lights or what ever you call them are clear on the Euro spec but amber on US spec.
|
If they meet the FMVSS No.108 specs they are legal, if they don't, they aren't.

From what I can gather from a few google searches, in Europe, the parking lights are required to be clear, but in the US they can be clear or yellow/amber, so it would seem the Euro Spec headlamps would be ok in the US.

Usually the ecode headlamps are not DOT approved, at least on Rovers. But I doubt anyone would notice or care. Still illegal though.

I don't know whay the 03-04's use for bulbs, but I was able to just replace my bulbs in my 2001 with some Hella H4's 55-100 watt bulbs from Amazon for about $10 each. It was a very bright upgrade.
