Default Windshield polish?

My Disco I windshield has little specks or chips all over it. When the
sun hits it just right it is really hard to see out of. Is there any
polish or anything else that will help besides a new windshield?

Thanks,
Mike

This probably isn't much help. I had an issue with a car. (My windshield wiper managed to scratch the glass. It's just annoying to look through. Nothing major.) Anyway, I bought this. http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...emType=PRODUCT

I haven't used it yet, so I know this isn't much help. ...but it's something you might research a little. I'm not sure how deep the chips are. There are quite a few similar products out there that I found. Maybe someone else on LRforum has used a similar product and can be more helpful. Good luck!

Sand and rock chips will cause havoc with a windshield especially withan upright one as on a Disco. For your saftey it is best to get a new one. Any product that claims it will eliminate or polish the pits out is just lying. JF

Get you a big bat and bash your windshield. Then call a glass company and they will replace it for free, your insurance will cover it. (You really don't need to bash it). I had mine replaced for the same reason - no problems.

The polishing kits might remove some of the very minor specs, but not the majority of them. You need to replace your windshield. Mine is the same way. I checked last fall and a replacement windshield was $175 for the glass only. Maybe a$150bucks more if theyinstalled it (I honestly don't remember the cost as I do them myself). That assumes your rigs gasket is still pliable and reusable.Call around and get pricing, you can usually work these glass outfits for a low price. I didn't know an insurance co would replace due to pits. That's intriguing. It really IS a safety issue especially at sun up/down.

My comprehensive insurance is with Nationwide, and the way I understand it, it will only replace the windshield if it is cracked AND the crack extends far enough such that a dollar bill will not cover it. That's based on what the adjuster told me afew years ago when they replaced the one on my previous vehicle. If the crack isn't big enough then they will only pay to repair the existing windshield.

That depeneds on the state you live in. Florida says insurance has to fix any front windsheild with any size of a crack in it, period. Other states don't care at all.

The windshield is the cheap part I replaced mine and the
seal was about $275 and it is needed if the windshield seal is over 3 or 4 years old so it won't leak.

I had a rock ding on mine and had it repaired last week. The glass guy that came out told me that if I ever need to replace the windshield, take it to Land Rover. He says that the third partyglass they get doesn't fit right and causes lots of problems. He says to be sure and get the LR glass. He works for a large glass company that sells replacement glass nationwide.
