Feedback on BFG A/T 265/75-16's
 

Alright, give me the low down on these. I finally narrowed my search down to the BFG A/T's.

But, am really on the fence about ordering 245-75's and 265-75's. I was going to order the 245/75's today. But, kept reading how everyone says the DII w/ a 2" lift looks SOOO much better w/ 265's. I agree, but...

Here's my concerns. How much do the 265/75's impact the every day drive-ability? My truck is a dog as it is, I don't want my truck to have to constantly upshift and downshift when on a hilly road. How much power is lost or required to turn the 265/75 tires?

I really want the 265/75's but do not want my truck to turn into a slow moving fart. :D

I have no knowledge to offer on the tire size.
But the BFG A/T SUCKS!!!
I have ran them on my work van and they not only wear fast I never got stuck in the snow more times with any other tire.
3" of snow and I'm stuck, any ice, not moving, any slope no matter how small, spinning tires.
I would not buy them, yes they look cool and on a full time 4x4 they might do better, but on a E-250 fully loaded...they suck, a E-250 empty, they suck even more.
And they are way over priced.

Has your ride suffered, in terms of acceleration, since switching to 265/75's?

Your right about down shifting on a hill, it will happen alot. I have moved down to 255/65/16 after my last trip to Colorado because of the. Maybe rear gearing would change this but i never tried you know i don't care much for the skinny tires but they seem to have less drag on the highway.

That is one of the worst tire tread designs on the market, they have little traction if in water, snow, rain, mud or off road, so don't waste your money.
What sort of wheeling and street driving do you do?

I got Hankook Dynapro ATM's. They have been nothing but awesome! Take a look.

This is my daily driver. Don't want anything too aggressive, but want something that has good off road capabilities. I do most of my driving on paved road so I would prefer a tire to compliment.

If BFG A/T's are out what are my other options??

This is getting frustrating...

My DII has BFG AT's on it. They were on the truck when I bought it. They SUCK! Awful in snow. The DII can get going in the snow with these, but I've never had such lengthy stop distances! I had Nitto Terra Grapplers on my P38, and they were awesome. Great in rain and snow, off road and were maybe 40% worn at 30,000 miles. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set.

I have 265's on my truck and it seems to run great in terms of acceleration and running up grades, but I have a 4.6 so it isn't a fair comparison.

If you are open minded, consider a retread from Treadwright call the Centennial, that would fit all your needs. By the way, I am buying a set of their tires next month.

By the way for a tire many are getting 40,000 miles plus out of, $108 for a $265 is a great deal.

I would highly consider these.
