Jafir, I hope to do a full test this weekend, and will report back. I did engage the cdl both the with truck on, and off, and there was no difference in the lights being displayed on the dash. (IE. no amigos, etc..) So, my inclination is to believe that the slabs in my truck is programmed like the 04, but again, I haven't fully tested this.

just an FYI I believe that you have to drive several feet before the transfer case accually engages. the same when you take it out, it takes several feet for it to disengage and the light to go off.

Thanks for the tip!

Just wanted to follow up...I did test the truck this weekend, and with cdl engaged regardless of when it was engaged (ie. with truck on or off), I still do have ABS, HDC and TC, so it seems that this 03 is programmed like an '04.

Thanks again for all of the help!

Awesome! I cannot wait to do this to mine.... although I will have to.

Bit of a necro-post bump, but can I swap an '03-'04 SLABS module into my '99 to alleviate my "disable all the things" woes when I restart my truck with the CDL engaged?

Will it need to be paired to the BCM with a Nanocom or similar, or will it just work without issue?

I haven't seen this specific question answered anywhere, wondering if someone knows for sure.

Thanks!

Racer X,

Yes you most certainly can! With the 04 SLABS anyway. I don't know about the 03 because IIRC, those D2s didn't have CDL either. No reprogramming necessary. I got mine from Wil Tillery because Paul Grant had just sold his last one.

I just did this to my D2 within the past week. Nothing beats driving home in the snow with CDL, parking it overnight, and having only the CDL light illuminated when you start it the next morning. No AMIGOS!!!

Just be sure to order one that either came from a vehicle that has, or does not have the self leveling suspension depending on what yours has, otherwise you will probably get a light for that until you get it reprogrammed.

Just be sure to

The 03 should work fine. Overseas 03 models had the cdl as an option. I can turn mine off with cdl engaged and only have the diff lock light illuminated upon restart.

Can't you just snip the wire and it does the same thing?

lordmorpheus 02-10-2015 06:39 AM

Yes you can. I came across this link when I fitted my 04 CDL several years ago:
www.discovery2.co.uk/Factory Diff Lock The notes on which wire to cut are at the end of the link.

The reason I swapped in an 04 SLABS was because my original SLABS had gone south. I was getting the Amigos and had traced it to a voltage supply issue from my SLABS. I borrowed the SLABS from my friend's 02 and the Amigos went away with proper voltage to the modulator.

Since I had to replace my SLABS anyway, I figured I would just "upgrade" to the latest software revision which also had the benefit of not throwing codes when started with the CDL engaged.
