Flashing check engine light with codes p0304 p0171 p0174
Please HELP!!
I could use some expertise for troubleshooting the following on my 00 DiscoII: Truck hesitates while accelerating and lower rpm's, check engine light flashes but will eventually go solid, getting codes p0303 171 and 174 o2 sensors were replace over a year ago have replaced air filter, cleaned MAS, and ran a can of SeaFoam through, cleared the codes and they check engine light came back on flashing Right before the start of this issue I did have a coolant hose burst while spraying coolant all over the hot engine. Also after clearing codes and running seafoam through gas milage remained normal. Thanks for your time in advance!! |
304 is misfire, could be from bad wire, plug, coil - or head gasket leaking into that cylinder (any white smoke?) - watch in total darkness to check for arcs. New plugs and wires help.
171 and 174 indicate ECU can't adjust for real world conditions vs what it computes should be there in the fuel system. Look for vacuum leaks past the MAF (un-metered air). |
Grab some good wires and new plugs. Maybe the hot spray was all the wires needed. In a dark garage start it and stare close to look for any light and arching from wires. Just did mine. Took me a minute to see the flash from the wires but finally did. Helps to adjust your eyes to the dark first.

It shows when having a glitch in the electronic control module of vehicles. Commonly, the check engine light is positioned within the instrument console. In some older vehicles, the check engine light was referred to as "engine" or "trouble", which demonstrated small problems including overheating or flat oil pressure inside the motor. The check engine light is usually of golden or reddish color, and there are two types of it: Source : Flashing Check Engine, Check Engine Codes, Trouble Codes, OBD2 Codes, Diagnostic Codes - EngineServiceLight.com |
