Cleaned and inspected all ground connections....a little surface rust but nothing major.

Cleaned and inspected the XYZ connection. This had more corrosion and road grime on it than expected.

Just for ****s and jiggles I replaced the battery. 74 dollars of peace of mind.

In the end not sure what the magic ingredient was (probably a little of all three) but the truck starts better than it ever did.

Thanks everyone!

Hey there, I am having the same problem that you had.

FYI: it was raining for past 2 days, I was driving in the rain for a bit of both days. Next dry evening when it was warm and dry out, I had the S&M light turn on when I started up my 99 Disco2.

A/C has been broken for 3 years so I have not been using it. LR is winter car only.
Battery checked: 12.4 V (turned off)
Alternator checked: 14.4 V (turned on)
Checking all grounds pending:??????
Check XYZ switch planned:?????

Question on ground checking:
If I follow all the positive wires, every components connected to the positive, should have a ground????

Sorry for the dumb question but I want to waste less time as possible.

Any tips or advice on ground checking, I am hoping since it was raining out, the connection is corroded.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!
