Floor jack question

Just a quick one. Can a 2 ton floor jack use to elevate the 04 Disco so I can put jack stands?

I understand the Disco is about 6000 lbs, but just jacking the front differentials and placing the jack stands?

lipadj46 Jun 28, 2009 07:29 PM

I don't know I use 3 ton (per pair) jacks though. They are only like $30.

Yes, go for it.

Spike555 Jun 28, 2009 08:05 PM

Yes it will work, you are only holding part of the weight of the truck.

your truck weighs 4700 #'s and a 2 ton will do the job.

My 3 ton floor jack lift the front end of my 7500 pound Dodge with no problem so a 2 ton will work for a Disco.

Alrighty:)

Now the next question, where can I place the jack stand?

AK Rover Jun 28, 2009 10:33 PM

Under the axle will work. (That's not the first answer that came to mind.) What is it you are trying to accomplish.

JBEGIN Jun 28, 2009 10:44 PM

I was gonna say Under the Axle , too... wasnt 100% sure thats why I didnt

Spike555 Jun 29, 2009 09:56 AM

Either under the axle or the frame, depends on how high the truck needs to be and what you are doing, for brakes, under the axle.
