Frame rot
So I got Bertha rolling again but have a safety issue with some frame rot at a joint near the suspension. Has anyone else dealt with this, and aside from swapping out the chassis, is there anything that can be done for it? I'm going to attempt to hobble over to a welding place to see if there is enough metal to patch it up. If not, it may be the end of an era. So much for the safety inspection that was conducted last fall - I can't imagine this all occurred over the past winter but weirder things have happened.

That looks pretty bad. You might get it patched, will probably look worse next spring.

My first thought “what’s holding the frame up”. Looks unsafe.

Depending on how ambitious you are, you can get sections of the frame to weld in. Or have it patched.
I wouldn’t relish paying for or executing a frame swap without a whole lot of help. |
I live in Canada and I rust spray inside my frame and out side twice a year to try and prevent this

That looks really bad and very unsafe to me. Anything can be fixed but this is gonna be extensive and I can't imagine the rest of that frame being far behind in condition. I would do a frame swap or get another truck and put your good parts on it, or move on. ..sorry to say..

I think this Rover is actually making me mellow out with age. It's kind of a hobby/challenge now to keep her on the road although my husband thinks I'm certifiably crazy. I told him that he can start giving me Rovers North gift certificates for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. He just rolled his eyes :) |
