Front Bumper Minor Trim
I just installed some BFG AT KO's. 265/65 R18 with medium duty Terrafirma 2" lift on a 1999 D2. I'm getting a slight rub on the front bumper when turning. Just on one side. I have searched and found pics of bumper trims that take out the fog lights or trim the bottom off the bumper. I'm wondering if anyone has just cut a small 45 in the bumper at the wheel well? Any pics? Any other ideas for a very minor trim? I read about a wedge to bring the bumper forward, but this doesn't seem to work for me. Any other options besides trimming? Thanks.

are you planning on off-roading the truck? if so i would say just bite the bullet and trim it and sell the fog lights. otherwise i don't know how to help you. are you sure its the bumper that is rubbing and not the radius arm, anti-sway bar or something else?
|
Yes it's just barely rubbing on the bumper when turning. The outer knobs on that wide tire. The passenger said just barely touches the radius arm at full lock and I will address this. But focused on the bumper right now. I was surprised after reading many posts about running these tires with no issues.

Having the same exact issue on my 02 D2. Running in the very bottom corner edge in the front on either side at the beginning of a turn at slow speeds.

Since it only rubs on one side and not the other, it sounds like one steering stop is adjusted differently than the other.
Trimming will still help with those tires. |
Will an alignment (still need to do since lifting anyway) possibly improve things?
|
an alignment may help but not enough, trimming will be the best final solution especially if you are going off pavement.

So? any solution to this small challenge? I have the very same issue, only a slight rub, I don't want to open the turn radius. Has anybody trimmed just a bit off the wheel well at the lower plastic? Any pics? Thanks!

My truck has the same size tires in question here and rubs ever so slightly at full lock. Not sure which side or where it's rubbing but the driver's side has a very strange cutout at the bottom of the leading edge of the wheel lip. It doesn't even look like the tire would rub there if it wasn't cut, (plus it still does) so I"m not sure what the deal is but I can take some pics of it tomorrow.

This is the setup https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...e5db17f55.jpeg This is where the front driver’s side tire rubs the plastic bottom of the bumper. Thinking about cutting a bit off |
