Dead battery doors locked

You sure? Car was not super locked that I'm aware and key functioned normally prior to this. I ask because using the key in the door never felt like there was enough resistance to be moving anything mechanical.

The lock is not (directly) mechanical.
The only thing the key does is close an electrical switch that grounds a circuit, which in turn signals the BCU to activate the door unlock motors. Insufficient voltage = no door lock or unlock.

the pin may have snapped? It is a pretty common problem. Door lock should definitely work with a dead battery.
