Front and Rear lockers on the cheap
 

What are the cheapest front and rear lockers made for the 03' disco? I need to get some. (want to) Do they make a spool for the rear axle? I'd get a LS for the front and a spool for the rear if it was an option. Money is an issue as always...

I wouldn't use a locker in the front unless it's a selectable like ARB.
Detroit Tru-track would suit better in the front.
For the read lucky8 has some detroit lockers for $488 I think.

Why wouldn't you be able to use lockers? If you want dirt cheap for the rear and you are actually considering a spool, you could always do the good old redneck welded rear. It is more or less free and works just like a spool. I had a bunch of friends running welded rears when I lived in TN, but they were on primarily trail rigs. A spool will kill you on the road.

From what I understand (I could very well be wrong, its almost happened before ;) ) that the center diff will not send power to the axle with the locker because it has more resistance in it than the non locker diff.
As we all know a open diff sends power to the path of least resistance.
Thats just what I have been told, but that does not mean that it is true.
So if someone who knows more would chime in that would be great.

that is true but if locked on both ends it would still be an improvement. It is not like it will NOT work. It just will not work as well. Now as you said if locked on one axle and not the other it would be counterproductive, but if both were locked it would work to an extent.

Well for what it's worth I'm actually in the process of taking a break from my 03 CDL install. I got a CDL from a 98 in the local junk yard. Was just about to post a question about it....

well that answers that question. Welding the rear is a very simple process if you have any welding ability at all and works just like a spool, but as I mentioned before a spooled rear will suck on the road.

You can go back and forth all day long, especially since you are wanting to be cheap, but, bottom line, with out a CDL you will destroy any set of lockers.
That being said, once you modify your t/case, the least expensive way to go is a rear Detroit with H.D. axles and a front T.T.
There is a notice regarding some group currently selling Detroits on the LRRF.
Don't forget to buy a new CDL linkage, be it a D1 style, 04 cable style or an electric solenoid set up.
