Default Fuel Door

Hey, can someone do me a favor and post a pic of how the plastic clip mounts on the fuel door? I already snapped the first one I got trying to put it on.

What clip are you talking about? The latch? Or something else?
Sorry, just saw that you have a DII, I have a DI.

Let me know if you are talking about the latch. If its something else let me know that too, I can get you a pic in the morning. Or you might get lucky and find someone on here who still has a bit of daylight left. But if not I can help you out with that

Camdisco-
There is a metal tab on the inside of the fuel door. this tab is fitted with a small plastic clip which grips the small piston located inside the filler door. The piston retracts and releases this clip when the fuel door switch inside the cab is depressed and the door pops open. For some reason, the clip I got does not fit or I'm just too dumb to figure it out. I'm not alone though, I see alot of Discos going down the road with thier fuel door open.
Thanks

heat the plastic clip in hot tap water then install that helps to
avoid braking the clip

Now why didn't I think think of the hot water idea? I have replaced this clip about 4 times. They all broke when I installed them. The last one just cracked though, and has mostly worked for the past couple of years. I guess I should get one more and try the hot water.

Sorry they arent the best quality but hopefully it helps. Let me know if is the wrong thing but I think its right. The hot water idea will work every time.

Holy shnikes!

My 03 Disco didn't have that clip on it when I got it. This makes about a billion times more sense then what I've been doing.

Where have you been buying them?

PS: I was sliding my finger behind the door and pushing the tab back as I closed it. It works, but doesn't stay mounted flush.
