venting D II cooling system without bleed screw?
The upper cooling line on my 2000 DII split the other day and in a fit of luck I was able to coast into local parts store (I never get that lucky!). I open the hood, see big split in hose (hose from thermostat to T piece), shake my head, reach for my wallet (my rover makes me do that a lot), walk in and go up to the counter. Turns out that the guy says he has the hose I need (holy **** I gotta buy a lotto ticket today- I'm never this lucky!) except it does not have the bleed screw on it that my old one does. Option 1: buy part that is close -or- option 2: sit in truck for several days until AB can get a new one to me. I took option 1, replaced the hose, refilled the coolant and bled out as much air as i could from cooling system.
My question: I understand that DI's have no bleed valve (?) so there must be a procedure to vent the system w/o the bleed screw; what is that method?
I can't afford to be without a vehicle until I can get the correct hose mailed out here.
Suggestions?
