Default Fuel Pump

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and thank you all for posting such great material. I recently had my rover die on the freeway..turns out there was no gas in the tank when my dashboard was telling me i had a quarter of a tank.

so i was wondering if you guys think i need to change out the fuel pump, from what i understand there is a sensor on it that sends the info to the gauge?

also if i do decide to do a fuel pump removal what is a good aftermarket option. I've seen pumps range from 200-400? I'm currently in a 04' land disco II

thanks for the help

welcome. Maybe try Abran or Paul Grant for used parts. Lucky8 for new. No experience with broken pump.

Had an issue with mine a few months back. Get a new ring for it and lift the carpet up in the rear and undo the cover plate. Mine was hung up on one of the lines in the tank so it wasn't reading correctly. After I pulled it out and moved the line, put the new ring on the fuel pump and reinstalled it, worked like a charm.

Just fill up the tank again. IT should work fine. Mine had that problem before but as the forum mentioned somewhere longtime ago, dont let it dip all the way to empty all the time. Sometimes ok.
