General Service/Maintenance Record for 2004 DII

I've seen a few posts on here regarding the '04 Disco's service/repair record, and was hoping to get some more info regarding that models reputation.

I've been driving a '97 Disco (188k miles) for about 13 years, but some spreading rust has me looking for a newer Rover. Other than oil leaks and some interesting problems with the electrics, I haven't had too many maintenance issues that weren't time/use related.

I've heard some bad stories about '04s being somewhat unreliable, and wanted to ask the experts before moving forward on an '04. Also, are there any specific issues between the models (S, SE, etc.)

Thanks for the help.

There is nothing wrong with the 04's. Only issues with any D2 is the front drive shaft that will need to be rebuilt or replaced, other then that, all Rovers have head gasket issues pretty much as your 97 did.

Hi
I have a 04, build in December that year, so it must amongst the last batch built.
It has a full service history which was important and compared to my 2000 model seems much better built.

The cooling systems on both cars I keep a very close eye on and thus have no real concerns apart from that. If you have a good history for it you can get an understanding of what to keep an eye on, a good well documented service record is a great help.

Great cars to drive, just needs lots of TLC!

Cheers Jerry
