harmonic balancer?
so the solid disc with a steel cable looped around it on the front axle.... is that important?
mine fell off..... |
I was told they are there to dissipate axel vibration?
|
ooh, guess i should have read the thread topic....
|
It acts as a harmonic balancer to keep the vibration to a minimum. So vehicles have them on the front, some on the rear.
|
For my own knowledge. Does this mean soem trucks have neither? Mine is in the rear, so does this mean at the factory, they were able to determine that my trucks rear axel had vibration in it?

These devices are installed on a vehicle when it is determined there is an unwanted vibration in a given model. Some vehicle models get these many don't, it is just the manufacture trying to clean up a design problem.

could we get a picture of one of these??
Thanks |

Spike,
Those are very helpful pictures - Thanks - Its raining now, when it stops I'm going to look under mine as I can not recall seeing anything like that under my rig. From what I've read here not all come with these, is there any way to tell if they are - suppose - to be there on any given model??? Curiosity...... Is it possible these were suppose to be on the guys truck from Mexico (dont remember his code name offhand) that had all but disassembled it - chasing a vibration from unknown origins? |
