Default Have you guys ever seen this before?

The throttle body heater plate is actually deformed and bowed due to what I'm assuming is the swelling of the gasket. I held a straight edge up to it and it's about 2-3mm bowed on both sides. That's a ton of pressure.

That is odd. I would almost wonder if it got really hot once

I bet the someone put a ton of something in there and bent it when tightening the bolt. You notice it is the section with one bolt.

It's clearly been replaced once before. The replacement kit I got is the actually LR kit, and the bolts I removed are different head sizes than the ones from the LR kit.

The prior owner says it never overheated... and there isn't any indication of head gasket issues or liner struggles. It has 78,000 miles on it, still pretty youthful, ha.

That is very common(although usually not that intense). This is why you get the new plate with the gasket, because they are prone to warping
