Help...Trailer Wiring Harness PITA
 

Should have bought the Atlantic British "Exclusive" $60 Whatever-that-weird- plug-is to 4 Flat Trailer Wiring Harness is a month ago when I knew I would be hauling toys this summer, but I did not, thinking I could find it locally...

I am trying to haul a boat tomorrow and have been to every auto parts shop locally, obviously no dice, any idea where I could look to find a wiring harness adapter, or is the Atlantic British one the only show in town?

Maybe I will just duct tape some flashlights to the back....

I recently wired up mine using a little converter box I got at Autozone for $20-$30. It went in the little cubby by the rear door hinges.

I wish I could claim to be the genius that figured it out, but I found the directions here on dweb:

I followed them pretty much verbatim and it worked well for towing HMS Leaky.

You're obviously over thinking it.

And the ETM for the DII.

Just don't use the lousy inline splice connectors. Use good crimp connectors with adhesive lined heat shrink tubing.

edit. The Dweb instructions are pretty good, but I wouldn't fool with the soldering and wire nuts. Just cut the stock trailer connector off and use butt connectors.

Though I've switched to good Cole Hersee all metal sockets. I've broken two of the Hoppy 7-way sockets.
For any 4-way connections I'll use round 4-way.

You can get the euro adapter 4 prong on ebay from pcdocken. Land Rover Trailer plug for around $40.00 with shipping. Ordered 1 a month or so ago. Came quickly and works great.

Why do you have to have a special harness? I have an 01 se and see no wiring at all for a trailer! Go figure.

7 to 4 Pin adapter from BP of Utah was exactly what I needed, PCdocken seems to be MIA right now on eBay. A day late and a dollar short, but I will be ready for the next trip. Thanks for the help.

well my 03 Disco is wired for 5 pole but of course my new trailer is 4! I would like to make it a 7 pole one with an adapter to 4 or 5 any help? but at least a 5 from disco to a 4 pole adapter... if I knew wiring Id make one but so crazy there isnt one already made?
