hesitation at take off
98 disco with new:
heads lifters o2 sensors MAF I was told by a local rover mechanic I needed a new MAF and when the new one is installed there is a hesitation at take off. I've tried to locate vacume leak and checked for plugged vacume hose and nothing. Plugs look ok. Gas mileage is far below normal also. Air filter new too. Any ideas??? Dave K |
RE: hesitation at take off
Dave, when you start the engine, how is the idle, slow or rough?
You might consider cleaning out the throttle body with some crab spray as well as your idle control. Are you getting a check engine light? Mike |
RE: hesitation at take off
It runs rough at idle though gets better as it warms up. No codes have been thrown to help locate problem. Where is the idle control and how do i check that?
Thanks Dave |
RE: hesitation at take off
I would clean out the t/body, remove the air hose, open the throttle plate and spray it good with carb cleaner, then wipe out as much as you can.
You have an IAC motor for idle control but I really can't tell you were it is located. Mike |
RE: hesitation at take off
I have sprayed out the throttle body well and no change. Its strange though, when I put the old maf back on the hesitation went away and idles better. Though still runs rich w/ poor gas mileage. With the new maf it has hesitation and rough idle though mileage doesn't seem to improve. I just put 4 new o2s on so I don't think its them. Could it be the new maf is also bad?

RE: hesitation at take off
You need to have some plu into the computer and read what is going on live time, this will clear up many questions I believe.
