High mileage diesel engines

Im looking at buying 1992 discovery TDiS for a touring trip. As I have only ever owned petrol or gas engine cars am wondering what sort of mileage diesel engines would be recommended to stay clear of. The car in question that I am looking at has 2001,000 miles on the clock.

Not a Discovery diesel guru. But diesels generally will last longer than gas due to a lot of reasons. But I am sure the veteran folks here will help you out. My truck has 228K on it and has not required any internal engine work. Just broke in.
