Horn Quit Working!?!

Hey Everyone,

I have a 2004 Disco II S. And... randomly... my horn stopped working. For a while, if I hit the horn on the steering wheel it made a very faint noise. Now, it makes no noise at all. Should I just change the fuse out? Which fuse? If not, is it really serious? What should I do?

Thanks!!

You don't need a horn, use the finger...ha ha

First use DVM and establish you have voltage to horn. Then check fuse. Then check switch. Then check wiring. THEN give up and use finger... or install steel bumper.

You probably need to replace your horns

agreed. If you heard a faint horn sound once upon a time, then that went away, the horns have probably failed. Certainly wouldn't hurt to make sure you are getting 12V to them before buying new ones though.

how long would it take to replace the horn? i need to get this done asap to pass the virginia safety inspection.

There's a low note and a high note horn. Bizarre they both stopped working. FWIW I am still getting the very faint horn noise, but no one can hear it unless you're standing next to car. Wish I could attach an audio clip.

What is DVM and how do I "establish (I) have voltage to horn."?

It's coming very faintly from the driver's side of the car. Nothing from the passenger's side at all.

Does this sound like a bad horn or a wiring/voltage issue?

most common thing to go out on this subject is the buttons themselfs , faint noise can also mean slight contact. check the buttons out first
