How much does it cost for a oil pan gasket change?

I was wondering how much does it cost to change a oil pan gasket on a disco 2? 1999, if I went to a shop not a stealership! I have an oil leak and I think its coming from the pan. I just had head gaskets and steering pump replaced, new plugs, the works. I went to go drive my rover this morning and low and behold there were about 10 oil drops towards the driver side front of truck and I think its the oil pan. Losing about 1/4 quart in a week. :(

check your head gaskets just to be sure they are not leaking again. There are alot of ways a head gasket job can go wrong. I highly doubt its your oil pan that's leaking.

You will need to give that motor a good cleaning and start looking for where it is coming from. Have you tightened your valve cover bolts? The two bottom ones on each side. Things like a front seal can even throw oil that way. Get it clean and get a flash light and start looking. If that does not work you can move to the next step.

Hey MX I believe you! I know right? Hard to find folks on here that believe the guy that is looking at the actual vehicle. Look, the pan gasket isn't hard to change but if you don't have the time or the inclination make a few calls. if you paid to have the other work done I would contact them and let them know of your issue.

ok, I just looked under my rover and there seems to be a bolt missing on the oil pan??? Front part of oil pan kind of off centered??? Is there suppose to be a bolt there? Also there seems to be oil drops hanging from my oil drain plug? Any suggestions? Thanks again, this site is great for Rover info. These things are a bear in $$$ to fix and a little knowledge can save you tons of cashish.

Post photos of the missing bolt - that will help.

Here are some pics of the leaks where oil is dripping from. The pic with the oil pan you can clearly see the hole.??? Screw? or no screw?

No screw. Isn't that where the oil cooler hose clamp goes? I think you are missing a clamp for the tranny oil cooler hose. It will not cause an oil leak, but it's best to get a clamp on there.
Do yourself a favor and toss that crap fram oil filter and get a Mobil 1 301 filter, or K&N 3001 or something good like that.

This is a 2003 sump, but you should get the idea about the clamp.

Again, check the valve cover bolts (you' need the legendary 8 mm 12-pt socket). Mine were leaking and that is exactly how my filter and oil pan looked.
